25hours Hotel The Olympia is one of Sydney’s most exciting newer hotels and has an almost unbeatable location for gay travellers. Sitting right at 1 Oxford Street, on the edge of Paddington and Darlinghurst, you’re perfectly placed for Sydney’s LGBTQ+ nightlife while Surry Hills, Hyde Park and the CBD are all easily accessible too.
Opened in 2025 in the heritage-listed former Olympia Theatre, the hotel has 109 individually styled rooms inspired by cinema’s “Dreamers” and “Renegades”. Expect bold design, local artwork, free Wi-Fi, complimentary minibar items, Bluetooth speakers and the playful touches that make 25hours hotels feel rather less corporate than your average five-star stay.
Food and drink are a major part of the experience, with Mediterranean-inspired The Palomar, cocktail and wine bar The Mulwray, café Jacob the Angel and rooftop bar Monica overlooking Paddington and the Sydney skyline.

Ovolo Woolloomooloo gives you a completely different Sydney experience from the hotels around Oxford Street. The Royal Botanic Garden begins almost next door, and the Opera House can be reached in around 15 minutes on foot through the gardens. Oxford Street’s gay nightlife is farther away, so a short taxi or rideshare is the easiest option for an evening in Darlinghurst.

Crown Street’s cafés, restaurants and bars are close by, while Central Station is around five minutes away.
For gay travellers who like boutique hotels with a strong sense of place, Albion feels much more personal than a conventional five-star stay.
