The CAMP has existed on Reisinger Strasse since 2005 and has since developed into a popular meeting place for young and old in Munich's gay scene. There is always something going on here. The friendly staff ensures a good atmosphere in the large bar area. The bars offers great playing facilities.

A few steps from Gärtnerplatz is the cafe in the Sub, a pillar of the gay, social and cultural center for gay, bisexual and queer men and trans people in Munich.
The Cafe im Sub is the meeting point for everyone who wants to meet up with their friends or make new acquaintances - or who want to find out what's going on in Munich's gay scene.
The cafe offers a large selection of drinks - juices, teas, beers, long drinks - at reasonable prices and is run entirely by volunteers. All income from the cafe operation goes to the LGBTI * offers of the sub. However, there is no compulsion to consume in the cafe.
On some evenings, certain clubs or organizations (e.g. TransMann, LeTRa, Bushido Karate and many more) take over the counter service in the cafes. These theme evenings enable our guests to get to know many of the LGBTIQ * groups in the community directly and to talk to them. (Thanks to the counter service in the sub, groups and initiatives have the opportunity to present themselves and their offers and to actively support the community.)
The Sub is also a cultural center and offers many artists the opportunity to exhibit their work on the walls of the cafe. Concerts, readings and lectures also take place regularly in the house and show how diverse and colorful our community is!
Especially for those who are only just beginning to deal with their own gender identity and / or sexual orientation, there are low-threshold opportunities for discussion through advice in the evening or the information service. You can read or borrow relevant books and information material from and for the community in our cozy library.
There is something for everyone here - for every person, every culture, every age group and every interest.
Cafe Glück

Cafe Glück is an institution within the Munich restaurant- and bar-circuit for about 13 years. It lays within the almost romantic "Glockenbachviertel", a part of Munich where queer and straight, student and worker, bohemian and bourgeois is mixing effortlessly. The interior is an eclectic, still original mix of antiques and neo-hippie-style, the daily menu is always fresh and healthy, the staff friendly and as varied as the audience, the music relaxed, still modern. A very special, lovely and original place.

The Ochsengarten is Europe's oldest gay bar for jeans, leather, uniform and rubber guys (since 1967). We look forward to welcoming guests with outfits based on this dress code, especially on weekends. It is not only our wish that our guests feel comfortable in their outfits, but we also strive to preserve the tradition of the ox garden. Conclusion: No strict dress code, but outfits in the tradition of the ox garden are very welcome and welcome.

3* Motel One Sendlinger Tor

There’s a reason Motel One München-Sendlinger Tor works so well for a short Munich break: you can walk in one direction to Marienplatz and in the other towards Glockenbachviertel, while the U-Bahn at Sendlinger Tor handles anywhere farther away.
The rooms follow Motel One's familiar compact format, with comfortable box-spring beds, rainfall showers and good soundproofing. Downstairs, the spacious One Lounge takes inspiration from Ludwig II and his extravagant Bavarian castles, giving this branch more local personality than you might expect from a chain. Breakfast is served here in the morning before it turns back into a bar and lounge.
Some larger rooms add balconies or terraces with views across the rooftops.

5* The Dean Munich

West of the city centre in Munich's Westend, The Dean Munich, Autograph Collection brings a much more playful, nightlife-inspired style to the former Roomers building. The 281 rooms mix polished timber, velvet and bold colour with references to Munich's Jugendstil architecture and its 1980s cultural scene.
The spa remains one of the hotel's biggest draws, with a sauna, hammam-style steam room and indoor infinity pool complete with cinema screen. There's also a gym, lively lobby bar and Ibasho, the hotel's modern Japanese restaurant. Theresienwiese is within walking distance, making this particularly convenient around Oktoberfest.
For Glockenbachviertel you'll generally use the tram, U-Bahn or a short taxi rather than walk, but the trade-off is a full five-star lifestyle hotel with far more facilities than most of GayMapper's central picks.

3* Hotel Deutsche Eiche

Few hotels are as closely woven into their city's LGBTQ history as Hotel Deutsche Eiche. Sitting between Gärtnerplatz and Viktualienmarkt, this long-established meeting place for Munich’s gay community puts the Glockenbachviertel nightlife literally around you while Marienplatz is only a short walk away.
The historic building contains 36 modern rooms, now officially rated three-star superior, alongside its traditional Bavarian restaurant and seasonal rooftop terrace.
The famous Deutsche Eiche gay sauna complex is in the same building, with steam rooms, Finnish and lower-temperature saunas, a hot tub and relaxation areas; admission is charged separately.
Despite all that history downstairs, the bedrooms themselves are contemporary, with air conditioning, free minibar drinks and WiFi.
GayMapper tip: For LGBTQ history, nightlife location and a genuinely gay Munich institution all under one roof, Deutsche Eiche is in a category of its own.
3* Cocoon Hauptbahnhof

Cocoon Hauptbahnhof has fully embraced the Bavarian Alps – in a deliberately playful rather than traditional way. Expect timber, mountain-lodge references and even a cable-car cabin in the lobby, all just a few minutes from Munich Central Station.
Rooms range from compact doubles to larger “Stadl” categories, with some of the more unusual options adding features such as infrared cabins or extra living space. The Almbar and leafy Almgarten keep the Alpine theme going downstairs, alongside a substantial breakfast using plenty of regional and organic produce.
The Hauptbahnhof location is excellent for airport trains, day trips and Oktoberfest. Glockenbachviertel sits farther south-east, but Sendlinger Tor is only one U-Bahn stop away and the gay scene is also perfectly manageable on foot.
GayMapper tip: A fun choice if you want something with more personality than the usual station hotel – especially useful if you're arriving by train.
3* Hotel Altmünchen
Near Gay Nightlife, Great Value
Just inside the old city walls behind Sendlinger Tor, Hotel Altmünchen by Blattl puts you in a very useful spot between Munich sightseeing and LGBTQ nightlife. Glockenbachviertel begins just to the south, while Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt are easily walkable in the other direction.
This is a small independent hotel with just 36 individually furnished rooms, giving it a more personal feel than the chains nearby. Recent updates have included new beds, mattresses and improved WiFi, while there’s also a hotel bar and a covered courtyard lounge for a quieter drink.
The U-Bahn and trams at Sendlinger Tor make the rest of Munich straightforward, although much of what you'll want on a short city break is close enough to reach on foot.
GayMapper tip: One of the most convenient all-round locations in Munich if you want the gay bars, Old Town and Oktoberfest all within easy reach.
3* Hotel Olympic

Hotel Olympic feels less like a generic city hotel and more like part of the neighbourhood around it. You'll find it on Hans-Sachs-Straße, right in Glockenbachviertel, surrounded by cafés, small shops, restaurants and many of Munich's best-known LGBTQ venues.
The family-run hotel has made art and creativity part of its identity for decades. Individual rooms combine antique furniture from different periods with modern essentials, and almost all look into quiet green courtyards. Exhibitions and artistic projects regularly appear around the building, adding to its slightly eccentric, independent atmosphere.
Gärtnerplatz, Viktualienmarkt and the Old Town are all easy walks away, so you don't sacrifice sightseeing for the nightlife location.
GayMapper tip: Pick the Olympic if you want to actually stay in Glockenbachviertel and prefer somewhere individual, artistic and very Munich rather than a polished international chain.
