Street 66

Street 66

Street 66, Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, Ireland

For a relaxed gay night out with good music, excellent cocktails and a wonderfully mixed crowd, Street 66 is one of Dublin's most appealing LGBTQ+ bars. Occupying the former Front Lounge near Temple Bar, this stylish neighbourhood favourite combines warm, eclectic furnishings with an atmosphere that feels welcoming from the moment you walk through the door.

The music is a big part of its personality, ranging from reggae, soul and jazz to more energetic DJ sets later in the evening. Street 66 attracts a particularly diverse crowd, including plenty of queer women, making it a great alternative to the predominantly gay male bars elsewhere in the city. The comfortable seating is perfect for conversation, while the rear bar and garden provide additional space to socialise. It's equally enjoyable for an early cocktail or a lively weekend evening.

Popular Bars in Dublin

PantiBar

PantiBar

Fabulous, flamboyant and wonderfully Irish, PantiBar is much more than just another gay bar. Owned by legendary drag queen and LGBTQ+ activist Panti Bliss, this much-loved Capel Street institution has been bringing Dublin's queer community together since 2007 and remains one of the city's most iconic nightlife destinations. The colourful interior, friendly bartenders and welcoming atmosphere make it an easy place to settle in for drinks, whether you're visiting alone or with friends. Early evenings tend to be relaxed and sociable, while weekends bring a livelier mix of music, entertainment and plenty of glamorous characters. Panti's connection to Ireland's marriage equality movement gives the bar an important place in LGBTQ+ history, but it's the warm welcome and infectious atmosphere that keep people coming back. A Dublin gay nightlife essential.
Pennylane

Pennylane

Sometimes the best gay bars are the ones where you can actually hear yourself speak, and Pennylane is one of Dublin's loveliest places for a relaxed drink. Opened in 2019 by Panti Bliss as the more sophisticated sister to PantiBar, this stylish cocktail lounge offers a calmer alternative to the lively gay bars just around the corner. The interior is warm and elegant without feeling pretentious, with comfortable seating, flattering lighting and a welcoming atmosphere that attracts a varied LGBTQ+ crowd. Cocktails are the main attraction, alongside wine, spirits and friendly service, making it a particularly good choice for a date or an evening catching up with friends. Pennylane is conveniently close to PantiBar, so it's easy to start with a leisurely cocktail before moving somewhere livelier. A little grown-up glamour in the heart of gay Dublin.
Jack Nealons

Jack Nealons

For a proper Dublin pub experience with a friendly, gay-popular crowd, Jack Nealon's is a lovely alternative to the livelier LGBTQ+ bars nearby. This historic Capel Street institution has been serving Dubliners since 1905, occupying a handsome Georgian building with beautiful period details, warm wooden furnishings and a wonderfully traditional atmosphere. It's the kind of place where a leisurely pint and good conversation take priority over thumping music, making it particularly appealing to mature gay visitors and anyone who enjoys discovering authentic local pubs. The open fireplace adds to the cosy atmosphere during colder months, while the upstairs cocktail lounge offers something a little different. Located just across from PantiBar, it's an excellent place to begin an evening before moving on to Dublin's more energetic gay nightlife.
R.I.O.T

R.I.O.T

If you prefer your nightlife with a little rock-and-roll attitude, R.I.O.T is a refreshing change from Dublin's more conventional gay bars. This colourful, LGBTQ+-friendly dive bar overlooking the Liffey combines neon signs, street art, retro games and a relaxed, alternative atmosphere that attracts a wonderfully mixed crowd. The music is a big part of the appeal, with everything from indie and rock to disco and old-school hip-hop, while regular live performances add to the entertainment. There's plenty to do beyond drinking, including pool, arcade games and giant Jenga, making it a particularly good choice for groups of friends. The bar also serves tasty smash burgers and creative cocktails, so it's easy to spend an entire evening here. It's not exclusively an LGBTQ+ venue, but a worthwhile option for queer visitors who enjoy more independent nightlife.
DV8 Bar & Venue

DV8 Bar & Venue

For a different side of Dublin's LGBTQ+ nightlife, head west to James's Street and discover DV8. This friendly neighbourhood bar and event venue has become an important gathering place for the city's bear, leather, fetish and alternative queer communities, while welcoming a diverse crowd throughout the week. The venue combines a relaxed front bar with a much larger entertainment space, hosting regular LGBTQ+ events including Dublin Bears' FUR! parties and the adventurous OinK fetish nights. Depending on the evening, expect DJs, dancing, themed parties or simply a sociable atmosphere for drinks and conversation. It's particularly appealing if you're looking beyond the mainstream gay bars around Capel Street and The George. Check the events calendar before visiting, as the atmosphere can be very different on ordinary pub nights and special club evenings.
EUPHORIA

EUPHORIA

If you're looking for a proper big-room gay clubbing experience, Euphoria is one of Dublin's most exciting recurring LGBTQ+ parties. Since launching in 2014, this popular club-night brand has built a loyal following for its international DJs, powerful house music and impressive productions that bring a distinctly European circuit-party atmosphere to the Irish capital. Expect energetic progressive and tribal house, glamorous dancers, elaborate themed events and a packed dance floor full of people who love their electronic music. Euphoria regularly attracts guest DJs from around the world and organises particularly memorable celebrations during Dublin Pride and other major weekends. It's not a permanent nightclub, with parties taking place at different venues throughout the city, so checking the latest event announcement is essential. Book ahead for bigger events, which can be very popular.
