Olivia Balmes is one of the smarter choices around the northern side of the Gayxample and consistently gets excellent feedback for both its rooms and service. It sits on Carrer de Balmes, placing the gay bars around Aribau, Diputació and Consell de Cent within an easy walk without having the busiest nightlife directly outside. The hotel is modern and design-led, with bright, spacious and well-soundproofed rooms. Facilities include free Wi-Fi, a gym, restaurant, cocktail bar and private parking, but the highlight is the rooftop terrace with outdoor swimming pool, loungers and a relaxed chill-out area. Passeig de Gràcia is only a few minutes away, putting Casa Batlló and La Pedrera practically on your sightseeing doorstep. Plaça Catalunya is around a 15-minute walk. Olivia Balmes works particularly well if you want Gayxample access but place a higher priority on a polished hotel experience, good service and somewhere pleasant to spend a lazy afternoon by the pool.

The Corner Hotel is a stylish four-star option in the heart of Eixample, just a few minutes’ walk from the busiest part of Barcelona’s gay district. Its position on Carrer de Mallorca works especially well if you want nightlife nearby but prefer a slightly more residential feel once you head back to the hotel. It’s a particularly good alternative if you want to be right in the gay district but prefer a sophisticated boutique hotel rather than a specifically gay property. Behind its handsome 1892 modernist façade, the interiors are contemporary and stylish, with air-conditioned rooms, free Wi-Fi, large flat-screen TVs and particularly comfortable beds. Some rooms also have private balconies. The seventh-floor rooftop is one of the hotel’s highlights, with a seasonal swimming pool, sun terrace and bar overlooking the city. Dining is another strong point, with the acclaimed Angle restaurant located within the hotel, plus cocktail and poolside bars. Plaça Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia and Casa Batlló are all around a ten-minute walk away, making Cram equally convenient for sightseeing and going out.

Hotel Jazz is a great option if you want to sit between the Gayxample and Barcelona’s traditional city centre. Located on Carrer de Pelai beside Plaça Universitat, it’s only a short walk west to the gay bars while Plaça Catalunya, La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter are in the opposite direction. For a three-star hotel, the facilities are impressive. The rooftop Jazz Cub terrace has a seasonal swimming pool, loungers and bar with views across the city, making it a particularly good place to recharge between sightseeing and a night out. Rooms are modern, air-conditioned and soundproofed, with free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and comfortable beds. There’s also a well-regarded breakfast buffet, 24-hour reception and parking nearby. Its real advantage is location: airport buses, several metro lines and the top of La Rambla are all within minutes. Hotel Jazz is particularly good for first-time visitors who want gay nightlife accessible but also want Barcelona’s main sights right outside the door.

Hotel Soho is one of the strongest lower-priced options around the Gayxample and openly embraces its location in Barcelona’s LGBTQ+ neighbourhood. It sits on Gran Via, close to Urgell metro and only a few minutes’ walk from the gay bars around Casanova, Diputació and Villarroel. Rooms are contemporary, soundproofed and air-conditioned, with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and modern bathrooms. They’re relatively simple compared with some of the four-star hotels nearby, but the Soho has one feature you might not expect at this price level: a rooftop terrace with seasonal swimming pool, loungers and panoramic city views. There’s also a substantial breakfast buffet, 24-hour reception, luggage storage and private parking. Plaça Catalunya and Passeig de Gràcia are around ten minutes away on foot, while the airport bus stops at nearby Plaça Universitat. For a three-star hotel, the combination of gay-scene location, rooftop pool and generally strong guest reviews makes Soho particularly good value.

Leonardo Hotel Barcelona Gran Via is a useful budget-conscious option on the western side of Eixample. It sits on Carrer de la Diputació, within walking distance of the Gayxample bars and particularly convenient for venues around Rocafort, Casanova and Villarroel. The hotel is straightforward rather than boutique, but that is part of the appeal if price matters. Its rooms are modern and air-conditioned, with free Wi-Fi, minibar, tea and coffee facilities and comfortable bathrooms. There’s also a breakfast buffet, café-bar, 24-hour reception, business lounge and underground parking. Rocafort metro station is nearby, while Plaça Espanya, the airport bus and Fira Barcelona are all easily accessible. Plaça Catalunya can also be reached on foot if you don’t mind a slightly longer stroll. It doesn’t have the rooftop pools and cocktail terraces of several other GayMapper choices, but you’re paying for a good room in a useful location rather than facilities you may barely use.
