Rather than feeling like a huge international hotel, it combines polished service with residential-style rooms and suites in a very central position at Robson and Richards. The heated outdoor saltwater lap pool and hot tub are open year-round, with a garden terrace providing somewhere surprisingly peaceful above the Downtown streets. There’s also a 24-hour gym, while the larger suites include fireplaces and extra living space. Italian marble bathrooms and bathrobes add a suitably upscale touch across the rooms. Vancouver City Centre SkyTrain is only a few minutes away, with the art gallery, shops and Yaletown easily reached on foot. The main LGBTQ+ bars of Davie Village lie around a 15-minute walk towards the West End. There’s something reassuringly old-school about The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver. While many newer luxury hotels chase minimalist design, this one sticks with a more traditional European feel, complete with rich fabrics, polished service and a proper cocktail lounge. Vida Spa provides massages and wellness treatments, with additional leisure facilities including an indoor pool and fitness centre. Food is another strong point: Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar is one of the hotel’s centrepieces, while Gerard Lounge is good for an evening drink without having to head straight out. You’re close to Robson Street shopping and the Vancouver Art Gallery, with most of central Downtown comfortably walkable. Davie Village and its concentration of gay bars are about a ten-minute stroll southwest. The views are the first thing you notice at Embarc Vancouver. Its 29 studios and suites occupy the upper floors of the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the city and, from many rooms, towards the mountains. Accommodation feels more residential than hotel-like. Studios have partial kitchen facilities, while the one-bedroom suites add separate living and dining areas and can sleep up to four. Guests also have access to an indoor lap pool, hot tubs and fitness centre within the complex. From this central position, Robson Street and Downtown shopping are close, while Davie Village and Vancouver’s main concentration of LGBTQ+ bars are roughly ten minutes away on foot. Sunset Beach is a little further beyond. A 1950s motor inn turned playful boutique hotel, The Burrard has considerably more personality than its modest star rating suggests. Rooms face either the street or a palm-filled central courtyard complete with seating, fire pit and ping-pong, while complimentary bikes and e-bikes are a great way to explore the seawall and Stanley Park. Its location on Burrard Street is particularly useful for LGBTQ+ visitors. Head west and you’re quickly into Davie Village, Vancouver’s main gay neighbourhood, with bars including 1181, Junction and Numbers all comfortably walkable. Sunset Beach is also around ten minutes away in the same direction. Rooms include Nespresso machines, fridges, air-conditioning and casting-enabled TVs, and the hotel is locally owned and independent. This isn’t the Vancouver hotel for an early night. Hotel Belmont Vancouver - MGallery Collection embraces its Entertainment District setting with colourful mid-century-inspired interiors, neon artwork and a lively social atmosphere that continues well beyond reception. The Living Room combines restaurant and cocktail bar, while The Basement downstairs operates as a bar and nightclub. Rooms themselves are compact but cleverly designed, with Nespresso machines, wireless charging and device casting among the useful extras. The building dates from the early 20th century, but the overall feel is deliberately contemporary and playful. Granville Street nightlife is right outside and Yaletown is nearby. Vancouver’s specifically LGBTQ+ nightlife is concentrated further west around Davie Village, around a 15-minute walk away. GayMapper tip: Best suited to people who actively enjoy being in an entertainment district — the bars and late-night energy here are part of the experience rather than something the hotel tries to hide.

Space is the big selling point here. The Sunset Hotel West End has just 50 apartment-style suites, averaging almost 600 square feet, and every one comes with a full kitchen, separate living space and private balcony. It’s particularly handy if you’re staying in Vancouver for more than a quick weekend. You’re also right where many LGBTQ+ visitors want to be. Davie Street and the main gay nightlife of the West End are only a couple of minutes away, while Sunset Beach is around an eight-minute walk in the opposite direction. There’s a small fitness room and on-site laundry, with paid parking available too. The hotel returned to independent local management in 2026 after previously operating as Sonder The Sunset.
