Bad Habits Denver

Bad Habits Denver

3014 E Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80206

Looking for a friendly gay bar where you can actually hear yourself think? Bad Habits is a relaxed East Colfax neighbourhood favourite where games, good food and easy conversation take priority over crowded dance floors. With its welcoming LGBTQ+ atmosphere and cheerful regulars, it's an excellent choice for a casual evening away from Denver's bigger clubs.

There's plenty to keep you entertained, including darts, arcade machines, board games, trivia and karaoke, while the two outdoor patios provide welcome space for socialising. The kitchen serves American bar favourites, and there's a particularly good choice of non-alcoholic beers and mocktails alongside the usual cocktails and draft beers. Regular themed nights, happy hours and community events add variety without overwhelming the laid-back atmosphere. It's particularly good for groups of friends or solo visitors hoping to meet some friendly locals.

Popular Bars in Denver

Town Hall Collaborative

Town Hall Collaborative

More than just another bar, Town Hall Collaborative is a wonderfully welcoming gathering place that celebrates Denver's creative and LGBTQ+ communities. Located in the Santa Fe Arts District, this spacious, independently minded venue brings together a café, cocktail bar, community space and changing programme of cultural events under one roof. During the day, it's a relaxed spot for coffee, casual meetings or catching up with friends, while evenings bring everything from live music and poetry to social gatherings, workshops and community celebrations. The atmosphere is inclusive and refreshingly informal, with comfortable seating, a dog-friendly patio and plenty of opportunities to meet interesting people. It's particularly appealing if you want to discover Denver's wider queer culture beyond conventional gay nightlife, or simply enjoy a welcoming space where conversation and creativity take centre stage.
Wild Tulips

Wild Tulips

There's something exciting blooming in Denver's LGBTQ+ scene. Wild Tulips is a new sapphic bar and lounge in Capitol Hill, created as a welcoming home for queer women, trans and non-binary people, while embracing the wider LGBTQ+ community. Its glamorous, 1970s-inspired interior combines rich colours, vintage furnishings, disco balls and playful details that make it feel wonderfully individual. There's plenty more to Wild Tulips than its good looks. The planned entertainment programme includes drag, dancing, karaoke, social gatherings, creative workshops and community events, making it as much a place to connect as somewhere to enjoy a night out. The relaxed lounge atmosphere is particularly appealing for meeting friends or making new ones. Opened in October 2026, Wild Tulips is helping bring dedicated sapphic nightlife back to Denver after the closure of The Pearl earlier in the year.
Charlie's Denver

Charlie's Denver

Cowboy boots, line dancing and plenty of handsome men: Charlie's brings a wonderfully Western flavour to Denver's gay nightlife. This longstanding East Colfax institution is one of the city's best-loved LGBTQ+ venues, combining traditional country-western entertainment with the energy of a modern gay nightclub. The dance floor is the big attraction, with regular two-step and line-dancing sessions that welcome everyone from experienced dancers to complete beginners. Later in the evening, the soundtrack shifts towards pop and dance favourites, while drag shows, karaoke and themed parties provide plenty of other reasons to visit. There's also an outdoor courtyard for relaxing between dances. Charlie's attracts a diverse crowd and makes an excellent choice for visitors looking for something that feels distinctly Colorado. You certainly don't need to be a cowboy to enjoy yourself, although a pair of boots wouldn't look out of place.
R & R Denver

R & R Denver

A proper piece of Denver's LGBTQ+ history, R & R is the kind of gay bar that reminds you why neighbourhood pubs matter. Widely recognised as the city's oldest continuously operating gay bar, this unpretentious East Colfax institution has roots stretching back to the 1950s, when the premises operated as the discreetly gay-friendly Coral Lounge. Today, R & R remains a friendly, down-to-earth gathering place where regulars catch up over affordable drinks, play pool or darts and enjoy an atmosphere that hasn't been polished beyond recognition. The clientele tends towards mature gay men, although newcomers are welcome, and there's none of the pressure to dress up or join a crowded dance floor. It's an excellent choice if you appreciate a bar with history, character and the kind of friendly welcome that makes you feel like a local.
Champagne Tiger

Champagne Tiger

A little French glamour goes a long way in Denver, and Champagne Tiger delivers it with plenty of personality. Occupying the landmark former Tom's Diner building on East Colfax, this colourful, LGBTQ+-friendly restaurant and cocktail bar combines Parisian bistro influences with American comfort food and a wonderfully playful atmosphere. The menu offers everything from burgers and steak frites to oysters and indulgent brunch dishes, complemented by expertly made cocktails and plenty of champagne. Sunday drag brunch is the main event, featuring glamorous performances and a lively crowd that knows how to celebrate. On quieter evenings, the stylish dining room and spacious garden patio make it an equally appealing choice for a date or pre-nightlife dinner. It's conveniently located right next to X Bar, so you can move easily from cocktails and food to a bigger night out.
X BAR

X BAR

Big on energy and always ready for a party, X Bar is one of Denver's most popular LGBTQ+ nightlife destinations. Located on East Colfax, this lively multi-level venue attracts a wonderfully mixed crowd with DJs, dancing, drag entertainment and plenty of opportunities to let your hair down. One of its biggest attractions is the spacious outdoor patio, where you can relax with cocktails, meet friends and enjoy a little people-watching before heading back inside. The upstairs Glow Lounge provides a different atmosphere, with darker lighting and a dedicated dance space, while regular drag competitions, bingo and themed parties keep the entertainment varied. It's particularly popular with a younger crowd at weekends, but everyone is welcome. Whether you're starting your night with drinks or planning to dance until closing time, X Bar delivers a reliably fun Denver experience.
