3* Art Hotel Connection

Fuggerstraße 33, 10777 Berlin, Germany

3* Art Hotel Connection

Gay Hotel, Near Gay Nightlife

ArtHotel Connection is one of Berlin’s genuinely LGBTQ+-focused places to stay and has a location that is difficult to improve upon if Schöneberg nightlife is the priority. The small, proudly “straight-friendly” hotel sits on Fuggerstraße, right in the middle of the Rainbow District above the popular Prinzknecht bar.

There are just 16 individually styled rooms, giving the place a much more personal atmosphere than the larger hotels nearby. Expect colourful interiors, free Wi-Fi and plenty of character rather than anonymous chain-hotel styling. Breakfast is served until late, which feels particularly well judged in this part of Berlin.

Motzstraße, Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz are all close, and KaDeWe is only a short walk away. Several gay bars are literally on the same street.

GayMapper tip: a great choice if you prefer small independent gay accommodation and want to step straight out of the hotel into the heart of Schöneberg.

4* Indigo - East Side Gallery

4* Indigo - East Side Gallery

Hotel Indigo East Side Gallery is a useful alternative if you’d rather experience Berlin’s eastern neighbourhoods than base the whole trip around Schöneberg. It sits directly beside the East Side Gallery and Oberbaumbrücke, with Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg’s restaurants, bars and clubs spreading out on either side of the river. Rooms are contemporary and colourful, with free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and design touches inspired by the surrounding neighbourhood. There’s a fitness room and restaurant, but the real highlight is the rooftop Gallery Rooftop Bar, with excellent views across the Spree and Berlin skyline. Warschauer Straße station is around ten minutes away, giving you quick S-Bahn and U-Bahn connections towards Alexanderplatz, Mitte and western Berlin. This isn’t the place to stay if you want Schöneberg’s gay bars outside the door, but it makes much more sense if your Berlin plans lean towards Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and the city’s more alternative nightlife. GayMapper tip: a good counterpoint to the Schöneberg-heavy choices — especially for repeat visitors who want to see a different side of Berlin.

3* Mercure Berlin Zentrum

3* Mercure Berlin Zentrum

Mercure Hotel Berlin Zentrum is about as conveniently placed as you can get for Schöneberg nightlife without actually sleeping above one of the bars. It’s tucked away on Fuggerstraße itself, with Woof, Prinzknecht, Motzstraße and the rest of the Rainbow District all within a very easy walk. The hotel is relatively small and uncomplicated, with air-conditioned rooms, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities and private bathrooms. There’s a breakfast buffet each morning and a small hotel bar for drinks later in the day. Wittenbergplatz and Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn stations are both nearby, while KaDeWe and the western end of Kurfürstendamm are easily reached on foot. It isn’t the hotel to choose for a spa weekend or dramatic rooftop views, but for location and generally sensible pricing it makes a lot of sense. GayMapper tip: particularly useful if your Berlin plans involve rather more nightlife than time spent in the hotel.

4* 25hours Bikini Berlin

4* 25hours Bikini Berlin

25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin is one of the city’s most enjoyable lifestyle hotels, especially if you want somewhere that feels distinctly Berlin rather than like another international business hotel. It occupies the Bikini Berlin building beside the Zoo, right between Kurfürstendamm and Tiergarten. Rooms are divided between urban-facing and jungle-facing categories, with the latter looking across the zoo and Tiergarten. The playful interiors continue throughout the hotel, and there are even hammocks in some rooms. Upstairs you’ll find the popular NENI restaurant and Monkey Bar, whose huge windows provide some of the best views in City West. There’s also a sauna overlooking the zoo, bicycle hire and excellent public transport from Zoologischer Garten. The Schöneberg gay scene is a short ride or a longer walk away, so choose 25hours for its atmosphere and location rather than immediate nightlife access. GayMapper tip: one for travellers who like their hotel to have a bit of personality.

3* Motel One Tiergarten

3* Motel One Tiergarten

Motel One Berlin-Tiergarten is an excellent lower-cost option if you want to stay close to Schöneberg without sacrificing a smart, modern hotel. It sits on An der Urania, only a few minutes from Wittenbergplatz and around ten minutes on foot from the bars around Nollendorfplatz and Fuggerstraße. Rooms follow the familiar Motel One formula: compact but comfortable, with good beds, modern bathrooms, air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The stylish One Lounge combines reception, breakfast room and bar, and stays open for drinks and snacks throughout the day. KaDeWe is just around the corner, while bus 100 and the U-Bahn give you easy connections towards Tiergarten, the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz and Alexanderplatz. GayMapper tip: particularly good if you’d rather spend your money on Berlin itself. You get a genuinely useful gay-scene location without paying Schöneberg boutique-hotel prices.

4* Quentin Design Hotel

4* Quentin Design Hotel

Quentin Design Hotel puts you right in Schöneberg’s Rainbow District without leaving you directly above the busiest bars. It sits on a quiet side street close to Motzstraße, with Nollendorfplatz, Fuggerstraße and much of Berlin’s traditional gay nightlife only a few minutes away on foot. The rooms have a contemporary boutique look with hardwood floors, air-conditioning, smart TVs and modern bathrooms, while some higher categories add balconies or garden views. There’s also a peaceful courtyard garden and lounge area — useful when you need a quieter moment between sightseeing and going out. KaDeWe and Wittenbergplatz are both nearby, and Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station gives you excellent connections across the city. For gay travellers who want to stay genuinely within the neighbourhood rather than merely “near Schöneberg”, the location is hard to beat.

4* Riu Plaza Berlin

4* Riu Plaza Berlin

Riu Plaza Berlin is a particularly easy base for a gay weekend in Berlin. It sits on Martin-Luther-Straße between Wittenbergplatz and Nollendorfplatz, putting the bars around Fuggerstraße and Motzstraße within a short walk while KaDeWe and the shops of City West are practically on the doorstep. The hotel itself is modern, spacious and refreshingly straightforward. Rooms come with air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a fridge and contemporary bathrooms, with many higher-floor rooms offering wide views across Berlin. There’s also a well-equipped fitness room, restaurant and lobby bar. Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn station is only a few minutes away, giving you direct connections towards Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz and the eastern side of the city. GayMapper tip: a great all-rounder if you want the Schöneberg gay scene nearby but prefer a larger modern hotel with plenty of space and consistently good facilities.

Tours & Experiences in Berlin

Berlin is one of those cities where the sightseeing can be every bit as interesting as the nightlife. See the Brandenburg Gate and Museum Island, cruise the Spree, explore alternative neighbourhoods, or take a trip to Potsdam before heading back towards Schöneberg for the evening.
