5* Somerset House Inn

Somerset House Inn, Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA, USA

5* Somerset House Inn

Built in 1840 and facing Provincetown Harbor, Somerset House Inn combines proper historic character with one of the most convenient locations on Commercial Street. Cross the road and there’s a public path straight down to the harbour beach, while shops, galleries, restaurants and the town’s LGBTQ nightlife unfold in either direction.

Breakfast is a highlight here, with a full cooked spread served daily and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available. Later, guests gather for the complimentary beer and wine reception – a lovely little social ritual before heading out for the evening. Rooms are individually styled and air-conditioned, with some adding fireplaces or sea views, while the garden, patio and newly designed parlour give you plenty of places to linger.

MacMillan Wharf is only around ten minutes away on foot, making ferry arrivals particularly easy.

GayMapper tip: Come hungry for breakfast – this is one of those inns where the morning meal genuinely deserves space in your plans.

Hotels you might like in Provincetown

4* The Foxberry Inn

4* The Foxberry Inn

A quieter West End stay with a decidedly modern twist, The Foxberry has reinvented itself as a digital-concierge guesthouse: check in online, receive your door code by text and head straight to your room without the traditional front-desk routine. Rooms are calm and contemporary, with air conditioning, mini-fridges, coffee facilities and free WiFi; some add kitchenettes, extra living space or private balconies. There’s a leafy yard with hammocks, and complimentary on-site parking is a welcome Provincetown rarity. If you need restaurant tips, extra towels or a later checkout, the concierge is only a text away. The location keeps Commercial Street within walking distance while putting you towards the more relaxed western end of town, with easy access towards the waterfront and beaches. GayMapper tip: A great fit if you like your guesthouse stylish and independent but would happily skip the obligatory reception-desk small talk.
3* Provincetown Inn

3* Provincetown Inn

There’s something gloriously old-school about Provincetown Inn. It has been sitting at the very end of Commercial Street since 1925, with Cape Cod Bay on one side and the famous Provincetown Breakwater stretching out almost from the front door. The star attraction is Provincetown’s largest outdoor waterfront pool, backed up by a private beach, seasonal pool bar, Breakwater Café and West End Lounge. Some rooms look directly across the harbour, while historic murals dotted around the property tell stories from Provincetown’s past. During the busier LGBTQ festival weeks the pool scene can become much livelier than the otherwise relaxed surroundings suggest. Central Commercial Street is a pleasant walk east from here, so you can dip into Provincetown’s gay nightlife and then retreat back towards the quieter West End. GayMapper tip: The pool and waterfront are the reasons to book – a harbour-view room turns this into a very different stay.
2* Masthead Resort & Cottages

2* Masthead Resort & Cottages

At the quiet end of Commercial Street, The Masthead Resort & Cottages feels like a little slice of old Cape Cod that has somehow avoided being polished into something trendier. The family-run property has been here since 1959, with cottages, rooms and suites stretching along Provincetown Harbor. The real attraction is outside: 450 feet of private beachfront and sundeck, big lawns, harbour views and some gorgeous sunsets. Accommodation varies considerably, with waterfront cottages and larger suites available if you want more space or kitchen facilities. You’re in the West End, where Provincetown becomes more peaceful and residential, but Commercial Street eventually leads you straight back towards the restaurants, shops and LGBTQ nightlife in the centre. GayMapper tip: Bring a coffee down to the waterfront deck in the morning – staying this close to the bay is the whole point.
4* The Brass Key Guesthouse

4* The Brass Key Guesthouse

Brass Key is one of those Provincetown places where staying at the hotel quickly becomes part of your social life. The gay-operated, adults-only guesthouse spreads across nine restored historic buildings arranged around lush gardens, an infinity-edge pool and oversized hot tub. A proper hot breakfast starts the day, while the evening wine, cheese and crudité reception provides a natural excuse to meet other guests. Then there’s Shipwreck Lounge – one of Provincetown’s best-known gay cocktail bars – right on the property, so your first drink of the evening requires virtually no planning at all. Commercial Street and the centre of the LGBTQ nightlife are only a few minutes away, yet the enclosed grounds feel surprisingly private once you’re back inside. GayMapper tip: A particularly good first-timer’s choice if you want a polished stay but also hope to meet people rather than disappear anonymously into a hotel room.
3* Cape Colony Inn

3* Cape Colony Inn

Cape Colony Inn has the cheerful feel of a classic Cape Cod motel that has been given a proper freshen-up. Rooms are spacious and recently updated, while the seven-acre site gives you far more outdoor space than most accommodation closer to the centre. Summer days can revolve around the heated pool, firepit, shuffleboard, cornhole and gas grills, with complimentary breakfast, parking and beach chairs all included. The beach itself is only two blocks away, and bikes and scooters can be rented on site when walking suddenly feels too energetic. You’re towards Provincetown’s East End, around 20 minutes on foot from the busiest central stretch of Commercial Street. That makes this a particularly easygoing base if you want town within reach without sleeping right in the middle of it. GayMapper tip: A good pick if a pool, parking and plenty of outdoor space matter more than having the bars outside your door.
5* Land's End Inn

5* Land's End Inn

Perched high above the West End, Land’s End Inn looks less like a conventional hotel and more like the wonderfully eccentric seaside home of someone who has spent a lifetime collecting beautiful things. Stained glass, carved wood, antiques and art fill the property, while the elevated position delivers some spectacular harbour views. The LGBTQ-owned and operated inn celebrated 100 continuous years as an inn in 2026. An expanded continental breakfast is included, followed later by a daily wine-and-cheese hour, and several rooms have private decks or panoramic water views. The atmosphere is intimate, romantic and deliberately grown-up. Commercial Street begins below you, but this end of town is considerably calmer than the central nightlife area – ideal when you want to join the action on your own terms. GayMapper tip: Sunset from up here is quite something; leave enough time before dinner to enjoy the view with a glass of wine.
