GEM Bar

GEM Bar

Fuggerstraße 34, 10777 Berlin, Germany

GEM Bar is a small, polished gay cocktail bar where conversation takes priority over booming music. Dark wood, marble and intimate seating give it a grown-up feel, while the drinks list goes well beyond basic beer and long drinks. Karaoke occasionally turns the volume up, but most evenings are deliberately relaxed.

Its Fuggerstraße location puts GEM right inside Schöneberg’s main gay neighbourhood. Prinzknecht is almost next door, Woof is just along the street and Blond, Dreizehn and several other gay bars are only minutes away. The crowd is mixed but tends towards middle-aged and older gay men, with plenty of regulars alongside visitors looking for somewhere quieter to start the evening.

Popular Bars in Berlin

Dreizehn

Dreizehn

Small, smoky place with friendly bartenders were you get in touch with other guests quickly. Often popular later in the evening as people move on from other nearby bars to see if they can make some late night connections.
Melitta Sundström

Melitta Sundström

Melitta Sundström is one of those old-school Berlin queer institutions that works just as well for coffee and cake as it does for drinks later in the evening. The characterful café-bar has indoor and outdoor seating, a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere and occasional cultural events, attracting a broad mix rather than one narrowly defined gay crowd. You’re right on Mehringdamm in Kreuzberg, with Rauschgold directly across the road and BarbieBar further along the same street, so it’s an easy addition to a queer bar crawl through this part of the city. Expect gay and lesbian regulars, local friends and a generally mixed, unpretentious crowd, especially earlier in the evening.
Südblock

Südblock

Südblock is located right at Kottbusser Tor and is one of the renowned queer spaces in Berlin. With a large outdoor terrace, this cafe, bar, cabaret and party venue offers a unique experience in one the most diverse parts of the city. The cafe normally opens for breakfast, lunch and the very German afternoon "coffee and cake" before becoming more of a bar in the evening, with a varied events program, including bands, drag, quiz nights and more. The weekly Sunday brunch is a highlight and very popular as you pay what you think it was worth!
Cafe-Bar Himmelreich

Cafe-Bar Himmelreich

Himmelreich has been flying the queer flag in Friedrichshain for years, combining a relaxed neighbourhood bar with a lively programme of LGBTQ+ events. Inside it’s warm and informal, while the tables outside on Simon-Dach-Straße are particularly popular when Berlin’s weather cooperates. Pride events, Eurovision nights and community gatherings all feature in the mix. The location fills an important gap between GayMapper’s other Friedrichshain venues. Ashoor is a short walk away on Wühlischstraße, with Grosse Freiheit 114 and Zum Schmutzigen Hobby also easily reached around the wider Friedrichshain nightlife area. Expect a genuinely mixed LGBTQ+ crowd — gay men, lesbians, trans guests, friends and plenty of local regulars.
OYA Kollektiv Bar

OYA Kollektiv Bar

OYA is a queer-feminist collective bar where community comes before conventional nightlife polish. The programme ranges from open decks, poetry and concerts to games nights, solidarity events and exhibitions, with a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC voices. There’s also a small outdoor area for quieter summer evenings. The Mariannenstraße location puts OYA in Kreuzberg, not far from the queer scene around Kottbusser Tor. Möbel Olfe and Südblock are both within easy reach, making it straightforward to combine them in one night. The crowd is especially diverse across queer women, trans and non-binary people, BIPOC communities and allies, giving OYA a noticeably different atmosphere from Berlin’s predominantly male gay bars.
Blond

Blond

Boy bar located in the gay area Schoeneberg. You will find new friends here from all over the world. Nice music, especially from the 1980's and offer a good range of cocktails with good service. Note the new location.
