Popular Bars in Dallas

Alexandre's

Alexandre's

If your ideal gay night out involves excellent cocktails, live music and a friendly atmosphere rather than a packed dance floor, Alexandre's is one of Dallas's standout choices. This intimate Cedar Springs favourite has built a loyal following for its talented performers, welcoming bartenders and a slightly more sophisticated take on neighbourhood nightlife. Music is a big part of the attraction, with regular singers, musicians and themed entertainment creating a wonderfully sociable atmosphere. The cocktail programme is another highlight, offering carefully made classics alongside creative house favourites. Alexandre's also has a kitchen serving comfort food, making it a particularly good choice for dinner and drinks before exploring the wider gaybourhood. It's an easy place to spend an entire evening, especially if you appreciate a good conversation between performances.
Round-Up Saloon

Round-Up Saloon

Cowboy boots, tight jeans and a dance floor full of handsome men: welcome to the Round-Up Saloon, one of America's most famous gay country-western bars. This sprawling Cedar Springs institution has been a Dallas favourite since 1980, attracting a wonderfully mixed crowd of locals and visitors who come for the music, atmosphere and plenty of Texas charm. The huge dance floor is the main attraction, with country line dancing and two-stepping taking centre stage alongside karaoke and themed parties. Free dance lessons on selected evenings make it easy for newcomers to join in, even if you've never danced a step in your life. With multiple bars, friendly regulars and an atmosphere that can be surprisingly welcoming to beginners, Round-Up is an essential Dallas experience, whether you're a country music fan or not.
Sue Ellen's

Sue Ellen's

One of America's great lesbian nightlife institutions, Sue Ellen's has been bringing queer women together in Dallas since 1989. Named after the fabulously dramatic character from the television series Dallas, this much-loved venue has an important place in the city's LGBTQ+ history and remains a lively destination for women and their friends. Spread across two floors, Sue Ellen's combines welcoming bars and comfortable seating areas with live music, DJs, dancing and a varied entertainment programme. Its outdoor patio is particularly good for meeting people or taking a break from the music, while regular performances attract a diverse, multigenerational crowd. Whether you're visiting for a relaxed afternoon drink or a big weekend night out, Sue Ellen's offers a friendly, energetic atmosphere and a strong sense of community.

Pinkies

Pinkies

Coffee by day, cocktails by night, and plenty of pink in between! Pinkies brings a fresh, more relaxed personality to Dallas's Cedar Springs gaybourhood, occupying the former home of Mr. Misster. Its bright pink exterior, stylish furnishings and welcoming LGBTQ+ atmosphere make it an appealing destination at almost any time of day. During the morning and afternoon, settle into the comfortable lounge with a speciality coffee, matcha latte or something sweet. As evening approaches, the lighting softens, cocktails take centre stage and DJs provide a livelier soundtrack. Expect imaginative drinks including espresso martinis, creative spritzes and martini flights, alongside a friendly, mixed crowd. It's particularly good for a date, catching up with friends or starting an evening without plunging straight into the clubs.
Rose Room

Rose Room

Dallas takes its drag seriously, and nowhere celebrates the art quite like the legendary Rose Room. Located upstairs at Station 4, this spectacular showroom has been entertaining LGBTQ+ audiences since 1986 and helped launch the careers of internationally recognised performers including Alyssa Edwards, Kennedy Davenport and Asia O'Hara. The atmosphere combines theatrical glamour with an enthusiastic, friendly crowd that knows how to appreciate a fabulous performance. Expect elaborate costumes, polished choreography, sharp comedy and plenty of audience interaction, with talented resident queens taking to the stage throughout the week. Rising Star Thursdays showcase emerging performers, while weekend productions attract some of the biggest crowds. Seating is first come, first served, so arriving early is advisable. Bring cash to tip the queens and prepare for a genuinely memorable Dallas night out.
