Popular Bars in Provincetown
Paramount at Crown & Anchor
Part of the popular Crown & Anchor Restaurant, Paramount is the largest waterfront nightclub in the city. It's a great alternative to the crowded bars and pubs, with a huge dance floor, state-of-the-art light and sound technology, and a host of internationally renowned DJs keeping the party going. This place is central to the gay scene, hosting cabaret and theatre performances, and featuring a quiet pool patio out back where you can get some fresh air.
The Monkey Bar
This quirky little drinking spot is known for its friendly bartenders, strong drinks, and laid-back vibe. Sit back on cosy couches to enjoy classic bar snacks alongside good value drinks, and also enjoy food from the Asian restaurant that shares the space. Thanks to the food this place is popular with locals, but tourists also visit for the friendly atmosphere and truly Provincetown welcome.
A-House
Atlantic House (or A-House) has been the premier nightclub in Provincetown for decades. The complex is open year-round and features three distinct bars. Little Bar offers a jukebox, fireplace, and quirky nautical decor, and is a popular space for an afternoon hangout. Macho Bar is the city's original leather and Levi bar (complete with cage) attracting a cruisey crowd. The Big Room is the number one dance club in Provincetown, with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and the very latest music.
The Vault
Hidden away in the infamous Crown & Anchor resort, The Vault is the centre of the Provincetown gay leather scene. Attracting a generally older crowd of bears, their admirers, and men in uniform, this dark and seclude club is a hot spot for cruising. The place may be small but there are plenty of dark corners to retreat into, mature videos on the screens, and stiff drinks at good prices to keep you going into the early hours.
Spiritus Pizza
Established in 1971, Spiritus is a family run pizzeria and coffee bar serving delicious thin crust pizza and homemade ice cream. Everyone is welcome to take in this quirky spot for lunch or late night drinks, as the kitchen continues serving pizza by the slice after all the bars have closed. You'll often find the community gathering around Spiritus in the early hours. The pizza and delicious shakes are made with care using quality ingredients, and the venue displays works from local artists, creating a true sense of community.
