5* Wedgewood Hotel & Spa

Wedgewood Hotel & Spa Vancouver, Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada

5* Wedgewood Hotel & Spa

Luxury

Independent, family-owned and with only 83 rooms and suites, Wedgewood Hotel & Spa offers a much more intimate version of five-star Vancouver. It has been part of Relais & Châteaux for years, and its recently refurbished accommodation combines elegant furnishings with private balconies on many room categories.

Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge is an atmospheric spot for dinner, cocktails or afternoon tea, while the spa includes treatment rooms, couples suites, a relaxation lounge and eucalyptus steam room. There’s also a fitness centre.

The position opposite Robson Square puts shopping, the Vancouver Art Gallery and central Downtown right outside. Davie Village and the city’s principal LGBTQ+ nightlife are around a 10–15 minute walk away, while the waterfront is easily reached in the other direction.

GayMapper tip: One of Vancouver’s nicest choices for a special occasion — small enough to feel personal, but still offering the restaurant, spa and service you’d expect from a serious luxury hotel.

3* Victorian Hotel

3* Victorian Hotel

Vancouver’s oldest hotel has been looking particularly smart following an extensive restoration. Built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush era, the Victorian Hotel mixes original exposed brick, high ceilings and hardwood floors with much more contemporary bedrooms and bathrooms. There are only 42 rooms, ranging from compact doubles to larger king and twin options. Newer rooms in the Sterling Wing offer a particularly polished boutique feel, while the original building retains more of the historic character. Downstairs you’ll now find Italian restaurant Locanda dell’Orso, alongside a café, bookshop and other small independent businesses. Gastown is just a few blocks away and Waterfront Station is convenient for transport. Davie Village and Vancouver’s main LGBTQ+ nightlife sit across Downtown rather than immediately nearby, but are easy to reach by bus or taxi. GayMapper tip: Stay here for history and character — the recent refurbishment has made the 1898 building feel fresh without stripping away what makes it distinctive.

3* The Sunset Hotel West End

3* The Sunset Hotel West End

Space is the big selling point here. The Sunset Hotel West End has just 50 apartment-style suites, averaging almost 600 square feet, and every one comes with a full kitchen, separate living space and private balcony. It’s particularly handy if you’re staying in Vancouver for more than a quick weekend. You’re also right where many LGBTQ+ visitors want to be. Davie Street and the main gay nightlife of the West End are only a couple of minutes away, while Sunset Beach is around an eight-minute walk in the opposite direction. There’s a small fitness room and on-site laundry, with paid parking available too. The hotel returned to independent local management in 2026 after previously operating as Sonder The Sunset. GayMapper tip: One of Vancouver’s best combinations of gay location and practical living space — especially good when you’d rather have an apartment than a conventional hotel room.

3* Residence Inn Downtown

3* Residence Inn Downtown

Having your own kitchen makes a surprising difference on a longer city break, and every studio at Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown comes with a fully equipped kitchenette alongside a proper seating area. A complimentary hot breakfast is also included, so it’s particularly good at keeping everyday costs under control in an expensive city. There’s an indoor pool and whirlpool, an outdoor terrace and a 24-hour fitness centre. The Hornby Street location places you between Downtown and the West End, with Yaletown, the waterfront and Granville Street easily accessible. Davie Village, Vancouver’s main LGBTQ+ neighbourhood and home to most of the city’s gay bars, is around a ten-minute walk west. GayMapper tip: Particularly useful for longer stays — the kitchenette, breakfast and laundry facilities make it much easier to settle in rather than live out of a hotel room.

4* Belmont Vancouver

4* Belmont Vancouver

This isn’t the Vancouver hotel for an early night. Hotel Belmont Vancouver - MGallery Collection embraces its Entertainment District setting with colourful mid-century-inspired interiors, neon artwork and a lively social atmosphere that continues well beyond reception. The Living Room combines restaurant and cocktail bar, while The Basement downstairs operates as a bar and nightclub. Rooms themselves are compact but cleverly designed, with Nespresso machines, wireless charging and device casting among the useful extras. The building dates from the early 20th century, but the overall feel is deliberately contemporary and playful. Granville Street nightlife is right outside and Yaletown is nearby. Vancouver’s specifically LGBTQ+ nightlife is concentrated further west around Davie Village, around a 15-minute walk away. GayMapper tip: Best suited to people who actively enjoy being in an entertainment district — the bars and late-night energy here are part of the experience rather than something the hotel tries to hide.

5* Fairmont Pacific Rim

5* Fairmont Pacific Rim

Harbour and mountain views are very much part of the experience at Fairmont Pacific Rim. Sitting beside Canada Place on Vancouver’s waterfront, this contemporary five-star hotel combines serious luxury with a noticeably more modern, creative personality than a traditional grand hotel. The rooftop pool terrace is a highlight in warmer weather, while the substantial Fairmont Spa and fitness centre make staying in equally tempting. Botanist is the flagship restaurant, and the Lobby Lounge & RawBar has developed into one of Vancouver’s better-known spots for cocktails, sushi and live music. Art installations and rotating exhibitions appear throughout the building. Stanley Park, Gastown and the seawall are all particularly accessible from here. Davie Village’s main LGBTQ+ nightlife is across Downtown, so allow around ten minutes by taxi or rideshare. GayMapper tip: Leave time for the hotel itself — between the spa, rooftop pool, art and live music, this is much more than somewhere to return to after sightseeing.
