3* Sandman Suites - Davie Street

1160 Davie Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 1N1, Canada

3* Sandman Suites - Davie Street

If being right in Vancouver’s gay neighbourhood is the priority, this is about as convenient as it gets. Sandman Suites Vancouver-Davie Street stands directly on Davie Street, surrounded by the bars, restaurants and rainbow crossings of Davie Village. Gay venues including Junction, 1181 and Numbers are all just a few minutes away on foot.

Every standard room is actually a one-bedroom apartment-style suite, giving you a separate living room, full kitchen, washer/dryer and private balcony. Higher floors add city, mountain or English Bay views, while there’s also a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre. English Bay is an easy walk straight along Davie Street, so the location works just as well for beach and Stanley Park days.

GayMapper tip: One of the most practical Vancouver choices for gay nightlife — particularly if you appreciate having a proper kitchen, living room and balcony rather than just a bedroom.

Hotels you might like in Vancouver

3* The Sunset Hotel West End

3* The Sunset Hotel West End

Space is the big selling point here. The Sunset Hotel West End has just 50 apartment-style suites, averaging almost 600 square feet, and every one comes with a full kitchen, separate living space and private balcony. It’s particularly handy if you’re staying in Vancouver for more than a quick weekend. You’re also right where many LGBTQ+ visitors want to be. Davie Street and the main gay nightlife of the West End are only a couple of minutes away, while Sunset Beach is around an eight-minute walk in the opposite direction. There’s a small fitness room and on-site laundry, with paid parking available too. The hotel returned to independent local management in 2026 after previously operating as Sonder The Sunset. GayMapper tip: One of Vancouver’s best combinations of gay location and practical living space — especially good when you’d rather have an apartment than a conventional hotel room.
3* The Burrard

3* The Burrard

A 1950s motor inn turned playful boutique hotel, The Burrard has considerably more personality than its modest star rating suggests. Rooms face either the street or a palm-filled central courtyard complete with seating, fire pit and ping-pong, while complimentary bikes and e-bikes are a great way to explore the seawall and Stanley Park. Its location on Burrard Street is particularly useful for LGBTQ+ visitors. Head west and you’re quickly into Davie Village, Vancouver’s main gay neighbourhood, with bars including 1181, Junction and Numbers all comfortably walkable. Sunset Beach is also around ten minutes away in the same direction. Rooms include Nespresso machines, fridges, air-conditioning and casting-enabled TVs, and the hotel is locally owned and independent. GayMapper tip: Borrow one of the hotel bikes and follow the seawall towards Stanley Park — one of the nicest ways to see Vancouver when the weather behaves.
4* Hilton Vancouver Downtown

4* Hilton Vancouver Downtown

Hilton Vancouver Downtown is unusually spacious for a central city hotel, with much of its accommodation arranged as one-bedroom suites rather than conventional single-room layouts. That extra separation is particularly welcome when you’re staying for several nights. Upstairs, the year-round heated outdoor pool overlooks Robson Street, joined by a fitness centre, sauna and steam rooms. Hendricks Resto Lounge downstairs handles breakfast, dinner and cocktails with a relaxed contemporary feel. The hotel sits between Downtown and Yaletown, making restaurants, shopping, BC Place and Rogers Arena very easy to reach. For a gay night out, Davie Village is a straightforward walk west, although the main cluster of LGBTQ+ bars is closer to the West End than the hotel itself. GayMapper tip: A good option for travellers who value room space — those mostly one-bedroom layouts give you considerably more breathing room than many Downtown Vancouver hotels.
3* Residence Inn Downtown

3* Residence Inn Downtown

Having your own kitchen makes a surprising difference on a longer city break, and every studio at Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown comes with a fully equipped kitchenette alongside a proper seating area. A complimentary hot breakfast is also included, so it’s particularly good at keeping everyday costs under control in an expensive city. There’s an indoor pool and whirlpool, an outdoor terrace and a 24-hour fitness centre. The Hornby Street location places you between Downtown and the West End, with Yaletown, the waterfront and Granville Street easily accessible. Davie Village, Vancouver’s main LGBTQ+ neighbourhood and home to most of the city’s gay bars, is around a ten-minute walk west. GayMapper tip: Particularly useful for longer stays — the kitchenette, breakfast and laundry facilities make it much easier to settle in rather than live out of a hotel room.

3* Victorian Hotel

3* Victorian Hotel

Vancouver’s oldest hotel has been looking particularly smart following an extensive restoration. Built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush era, the Victorian Hotel mixes original exposed brick, high ceilings and hardwood floors with much more contemporary bedrooms and bathrooms. There are only 42 rooms, ranging from compact doubles to larger king and twin options. Newer rooms in the Sterling Wing offer a particularly polished boutique feel, while the original building retains more of the historic character. Downstairs you’ll now find Italian restaurant Locanda dell’Orso, alongside a café, bookshop and other small independent businesses. Gastown is just a few blocks away and Waterfront Station is convenient for transport. Davie Village and Vancouver’s main LGBTQ+ nightlife sit across Downtown rather than immediately nearby, but are easy to reach by bus or taxi. GayMapper tip: Stay here for history and character — the recent refurbishment has made the 1898 building feel fresh without stripping away what makes it distinctive.
